تناول الكاتب محاور عدة معرفًا وعارضًا لدرجات الصداقة والألفة والأخوة من مفهوم الدين بما ورد في نص قرآننا الكريم وفي سنن الأنبياء وما كتبه بعض العارفين.
وتضمن الكتاب تجارب شخصية للكاتب ومطالعة لواقع الصداقة في المجتمعات السياسية والأكاديمية المعاصرة، مذكرًا ببعض الهفوات ومبرزًا لأهمية الوفاء بين الأصدقاء، سيما إذا كان الصديق في موقع القيادة.
